Meet Margaret Campbell
"Chocolate is the food of the soul, and the answer to all questions."
Margaret Campbell LOVES Chocolate! And butter tarts that drip down her chin. And Black Raspberry Thunder Ice Cream in a waffle cone. Or warm caramel sauce (or maple syrup) on just about anything.
She starts her day with a huge mug of coffee and a handful of dark chocolate. (She has the whole day to work it off).
Margaret has been in the biz for 31 years, and realized her childhood dream when she opened her first of 3 chocolate and cake shoppes in 2003, Ajax. Magical, delightful and a bit quirky, her creations are whimsically wonderful works of edible art. When the local Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream store was up for sale in 2010, she added that to her sweet empire. A delicious marriage of ice cream and chocolates.
In 2014, Margaret sold her business and semi-retired. (hahahaha). But the sweet memories of chocolate and ice cream continued to call her, as well as her clients missing their treats.
On a wing and a prayer, she moved to Bracebridge in late 2017 to do something with chocolate and to raise bees. Well the bees will have to wait. She met Don & Susan Smith of Momma Bear’s a few days after New Year’s and they had a handshake deal shortly after.
On March 8, 2018, Chocolate Margaret opened the doors to the new Momma Bear’s Ice Cream and Sweets Shop – just in time for March Break. Located on the Main Street in Bracebridge – it is conveniently located across from the Library and Theatre. There is lots of free parking and comfy chairs inside and out to enjoy the culinary experience.
Serving freshly brewed local Muskoka Roastery coffee, warm butter tarts & date squares, generous scoops of Kawartha Dairy premium ice cream, AND hand crafted on-site chocolates and confections – it is the place to be.
